Seattle pipe band finishes third at Glasgow championships

The Keith Highlanders Pipe Band of Seattle (khpb.org) finished third in its division Saturday at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded in 1952, the Seattle band has competed twice before at the world championships, finishing 11th in 2002 and sixth in 2004. There are eight divisions of proficiency in competitive piping: Grades 1, 2, 3A, 3B, 4A, 4B, Juvenile and Novice Juvenile. The Keith Highlanders compete in Grade 4B. Also at Saturday's competition, the SFU Pipe Band from Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, B.C., won the Grade 1 world championship for the fifth time.
