Day 24

Vaccines distributed to health workers. In a campaign, this is done in a relatively short period of time (4 hours). Workers then place vaccines in portable vaccine carriers lined with ice packs or cubes.

For routine immunization programs, vaccines remain in health centers to treat people as they come in, or so that they have enough when making trips to villages.

Health workers travel by foot, bicycle or even donkey to remote villages to administer the vaccines.

The cycle repeats as often as necessary.

TIME AND DISTANCE LIMITS
Since vaccine carriers and boxes have limited cold capacity, any distance traveled must coincide with their viability, which makes it difficult to reach remote areas on foot or bike.
