Meryl Schenker discovered her passion when she took a photography class at City College of San Francisco in 1987.
She worked at newspapers in Indiana,
Washington and California before making the Post-Intelligencer her home
three years ago. Since then she has worked on stories including
the Wenatchee child sex ring allegations and the 10th anniversary of the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. She also enjoys photographing the Sonics when not in Antarctica.
Meryl received a B.S. in biology from the
State University of New York at Binghamton and previously worked as a veterinary
assistant and assistant to the director of a
fine-art photo gallery. Born in Brooklyn and
raised in Bellmore, Long Island, she has lived on the West Coast for 14
years.
