A car struck and injured a Bainbridge Island bicyclist near Poulsbo on Sunday and then sped away, the State Patrol said.
The bicyclist, Steven Rhoades, 42, was taken by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was in satisfactory condition yesterday with a leg injury, said hospital spokesman Larry Zalin.
Rhoades was heading north on state Route 305 at Totten Road Northeast, about two miles southeast of Poulsbo, when a car traveling the same direction attempted to pass him and struck his bicycle, said Trooper W.M. Chartrand.
The car continued without stopping, Chartrand said. He asked that anyone with information about the incident call him at (206) 478-4646.
