New leash on life
If you've ever been on the pulled end of a leash when a dog is chasing a squirrel, you understand the expression "hanging on for dear life."

It's a saying that mountain climbers are familiar with too, which is why these dog leashes are so ingenious.
A Seattle family named Kreb combines the two activities in these dog leashes made from recycled climbing rope. The Krebs use sturdy rope that is forced into early retirement for safety reasons after several months in a climbing gym or a season with a guide service. Some of this rope has been to the highest peaks in the Himalayas (and may say so on its tag) or has summited Rainier.
Choose from the 6-foot Reggie leash (named for the Krebs' black Lab); the 4-foot Ruby; or the 2-foot Heeler Neck leash. Find them in a variety of colorful patterns for $14 to $18 at All The Best Pet Care stores and other pet stores. For more information, check out krebsrecycle.com.
