Simple clip hangs tough

The Flip Clip, key to a supereasy storage system, fits over the thin side of an exposed 2-inch-width stud, ceiling joist or rafter, much as a grasping hand would grab it. Then, with its special "handle" closed, it hangs on for dear life. This ability to grasp and hold sets the theme, but only in structures where two-bys remain exposed, say, inside an unfinished garage or garden shed. Once the clip is clamped, a variety of other Flip Clip Instant Storage gizmos can be attached to create storage systems ranging from a ceiling suspension system for bicycles to holders for shop and garden tools. There are hose holders, holders for nail-and-screw containers, hooks for wrenches, hooks for the ol' golf bag or, come next fall, hooks for all those folding aluminum lawn chairs that have otherwise been in the way. Search amazon.com for "Flip Clip Instant Storage" and see the options. A pack of four basic Flip Clips goes for $24.95. The Flip Clip company's Web site, flipclipstorage.com, is still being tweaked, but it offers a wider view of product choices and how they work. (Gordy Holt)
