Las Vegas trio blanks Rainiers
TACOMA -- Tanyon Sturtze, Rodney Myers and Troy Brohawn combined on a five-hit shutout last night, leading the Las Vegas 51s to a 1-0 PCL victory over the Tacoma Rainiers.
The Las Vegas pitchers did not walk a batter and retired the final 12 Tacoma batters.
Antonio Perez homered off Rainiers starter Travis Blackley in the second inning for the only run.
Blackley (0-2) allowed nine hits in six innings and pitched out of jams in three of the first four innings.
Sturtze (2-0) went six innings for the win. Myers retired all eight batters he faced and Brohawn retired Tacoma cleanup batter A.J. Zapp on a fly to center for the final out.
