Last-place Fresno sweeps Tacoma
TACOMA -- Damon Minor and Dave Doster hit back-to-back home runs in the fifth inning as the Fresno Grizzlies completed a four-game series sweep of the Tacoma Rainiers with an 8-6 win yesterday.
Minor snapped a 4-4 tie with a two-run drive over the right field fence off Tacoma starter Craig Anderson (0-8). Doster followed with a homer over the left field fence.
Doster was 3-for-5 in the game, extending his hitting streak to 20 games, the longest streak in the Pacific Coast League this season.
Tacoma backup catcher Brian Moon had a career day, driving in six runs. Moon was 2-for-4, hitting a three-run homer in the second inning, and a two-run single in the ninth. He scored another run with a groundout in the bottom of the fourth, tying the game 4-4.
The last-place Grizzlies (40-51) swept first-place Tacoma (48-39) on the road. The two teams face each other in a four-game series at Fresno beginning Thursday.
