THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

PORTLAND -- Greg Jacobs went 3-for-3 and scored three runs as the Tacoma Rainiers avoided a four-game sweep with a 9-3 victory over the Portland Beavers in Pacific Coast League action last night.

A.J. Zapp added a homer for the Rainiers and Jeremy Reed had a two-run single.

The loss snapped Portland's eight-game winning streak.
