Sloppy Rainiers lose

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

TACOMA -- Colorado Springs took advantage of five Tacoma errors and strong pitching by Alex Herrera to beat the Rainiers 5-4 last night.

The Sky Sox used back-to-back infield errors by Tacoma's Jose Lopez and A.J. Zapp to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Tacoma made three more errors in the third -- including two on one play -- leading to three runs and a 4-2 Colorado Springs lead.

Zapp, who hit his 20th homer, had his 40-game errorless streak end.
