Olympic Panel acquires, will run Simpson mill in Shelton

Simpson Timber Co. has sold its Shelton specialty plywood mill to Olympic Panel Products, a company founded by forest-product company executives and a Connecticut private investment group.

Olympic Panel said it plans to continue operating the mill, which employs 250 workers, and has negotiated a new three-year labor agreement with the union there. The mill makes plywood for transportation equipment, commercial construction and signs.

Simpson will continue to operate lumber facilities employing 450 workers in Shelton.

  • EProject, a Seattle maker of project-management software, yesterday named Steven Anderson, formerly of CypherGuard, chief operations officer.

  • Bellevue Downtown Association yesterday promoted Leslie Ota as vice president, working on business development, marketing and recruiting.
