Earnings: Icos cuts loss from '04 in half

Bothell-based Icos Corp. yesterday reported a second-quarter 2005 net loss of $22.6 million, or 35 cents per share, a more-than 50 percent decrease from a net loss of $51.9 million, or 82 cents a share, for the same period a year ago.

The biotechnology company is best known for developing Cialis, the drug that helps erectile dysfunction.

Revenue for the quarter that ended June 30 was $18.1 million, slightly up from $17.9 million for the year-ago period.

The company ended the second quarter with $192.6 million in cash, cash equivalents, investment securities and associated interest.

Unova Inc. reported second-quarter net income of $12.1 million, or 19 cents a share, up from $5.7 million, or 9 cents a share a year ago. Revenue rose 17 percent to $217.5 million. Unova is the Everett-based parent of Intermec, which makes bar-code and radio-identification tag systems used to track inventory and shipments.

HouseValues Inc., a Kirkland company that uses the Internet to coordinate real estate sales and purchases, said that it enjoyed its best second quarter, recording a net income of $3.7 million, or 14 cents per share, on revenue of $20.6 million. For the same period a year ago, its net income was $2.3 million, or 11 cents a share, on revenue of $11.2 million.

Seattle software companyInsightful Corp. said it had second-quarter revenue of $5.1 million, up from $4.5 million for the same period a year ago. Net income for the most recent period was $334,000, or 3 cents a share, compared with $300,000, or 2 cents a share, for the second quarter in 2004.
