HILLSBORO, Ore. -- A Hillsboro chip manufacturer plans to cut its 1,000-person work force by as many as 140 employees over the next three months.
However, company officials said few of the cuts will be in Hillsboro, where 350 are based. Instead, the company intends to bolster its Oregon staff next year in an effort to centralize engineering jobs.
BALTIMORE -- A federal judge on Thursday dismissed a case brought by a group of lawyers seeking more than $24 million in legal fees for their work against Microsoft Corp. in federal antitrust cases.
The 27 law firms were trying to get a share of $79 million in fees that a group of 11 law firms received for state court cases in several states.
A federal judge on Thursday night issued a final order thwarting an attempt by Google Inc. to invalidate an employment contract that prohibits former Microsoft Corp. Vice President Kai-Fu Lee from working on some Google projects.
U.S. District Judge Ronald Whyte, in San Jose, Calif., issued his order granting Microsoft's request to delay Google's suit until a related case in Seattle is resolved.
In that case, King County Superior Court Judge Steven Gonzalez barred Lee last month from working on technical research at Google until after a Jan. 9 trial.
