Two Seattle music groups won awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers this year.
The Seattle Symphony Orchestra received an award for adventurous programming. It recognizes orchestras that program contemporary music. The symphony was previously honored in 1978, 1990, 1994 and 1996. A decade ago, the orchestra was awarded the ASCAP John S. Edwards Award for Strongest Commitment to New American Music.
Also winning an award for adventuresome programming among choral groups was the Seattle group, the Esoterics.
