Cricket Cola goes green
Yes, my little kola nut, there is such a thing as a boutique soda. The latest fizz in the beverage category is Cricket Cola, which has been dubbed a "micro-cola." Its claim to fame is that it contains green tea, real kola nut and no high fructose corn syrup (cane sugar is used instead, and Splenda in the diet version).

The founders of the company, who brought us Balance energy bars, wanted a carbonated drink that didn't contain artificial flavors and had a healthful aspect. "Green tea is our magic ingredient," says co-founder Mary Heron.
"You get a natural lift. The caffeine in regular colas gives you a chemical lift." Cricket Cola, she says, is happiness in a bottle. Look for Cricket at QFC, Bartell Drugs, Haggen/Top Food, Larry's, Uwajimaya and Shoreline Central Market. Each 12-ounce bottle costs about a buck.
