Chocolate drinks flowing at these local spots

There are countless ways to satisfy your chocolate needs. But there's something so comforting, simple and pure about a well-made warm chocolate drink.

  • Oh! Chocolate has brought its Parisian-inspired "drinking chocolate," the ultimate in cacao-derived beverages, to Seattle. The concoction is syruplike -- picture the

unbelievably tempting drinks Juliette Binoche served up so saucily in "Chocolat." At Oh! Chocolate, cups of velvety, slightly bittersweet chocolate nectar are served with a little side dish of whipped cream, for dosing your drink. After 20 years on Mercer Island as well as a Bellevue location, Oh! Chocolate has opened at 3131 E. Madison St., 206-329-8777. See if you can finish your cup without succumbing to the purchase of a truffle to go ...

  • Other local chocolatiers, including Fran's Chocolates (University Village), Dilettante (416 Broadway E.; Westlake Mall; Rainier Square) and Chocolati cafes (7810 E. Green Lake Drive N.; 8319 Greenwood Ave. N.; 2701 First Ave.), also sell decadent drinks.

  • Bakeries and coffee shops with much better than average cocoa drinks include Capitol Hill's B&O Espresso (204 Belmont Ave. E.), Ballard's Cafe Besalu (5909 24th Ave. N.W.), First Hill's Arosa Waffle Cafe (1301 Madison St.) and the Mexican hot chocolate at El Diablo (1811 Queen Anne Ave. N.).
