Dessert restaurant Coco la ti da closes abruptly

P-I STAFF

Sue McCown's playful Capitol Hill dessert lounge, Coco la ti da, closed its doors Tuesday. McCown, the former pastry chef at Earth & Ocean restaurant in the W Hotel, said in a statement that she shut down the restaurant to pursue other opportunities.

Coco la ti da, which opened in November, was McCown's first solo venture. It featured her artful and whimsically named dessert creations, such as "Sex, Lies and Apricots." McCown had acknowledged experiencing difficulties recently, but there was no word on whether she would continue her bakery and wholesale business of the same name.
