Pepsi going blue for next release
Wednesday, May 8, 2002
After success with its Code Red (cherry) version of Mountain Dew, Pepsi plans to launch Pepsi Blue, a berry-flavored cola, in August.
Both Code Red and Pepsi Blue have 16-year-old males as their target consumers.
The company tested more than 100 variations, including banana and several citrus blends, but teens suggested the blue and the berry.
Like Code Red, the new flavor will be introduced first in a 20-ounce bottle sold mostly in convenience stores and vending machines.
