GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers lost Pro Bowl wide receiver Donald Driver and their unbeaten preseason record in a 21-13 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lambeau Field on Thursday night.
A bigger concern for the Packers was the status of Driver, who was taken to the locker room just before halftime with an injury to his right foot.
He was injured after catching a pass from Aaron Rodgers late in the second quarter and spinning away from cornerbacks Terry Cousin and Brian Williams. Driver then was tackled by safety Sammy Knight and landed awkwardly.
Driver was helped off the field, then sat in the front seat of a cart as he was taken to the locker room at the two-minute warning to undergo medical tests. He did not return.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Driver's injury was initially diagnosed as a foot sprain.
"He's in good spirits," McCarthy said of Driver. "So we'll have more information tomorrow."
JETS-REDSKINS TRADE: The New York Jets reached an agreement to trade disgruntled veteran Pete Kendall to the Washington Redskins, who hope the 34-year-old lineman will make up for the team's inability to find a suitable starting left guard in the offseason.
Pending a physical, the Jets will receive a fifth-round pick in 2008 or a fourth-rounder in 2009 for Kendall, an official within the NFL said Thursday. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the trade had yet to be completed, also said the Redskins will give Kendall a raise of approximately $1 million, boosting his salary to about $2.7 million.
EXTRA POINTS: A nearly perfect Drew Brees led the New Orleans Saints to a dominating 30-7 victory at Kansas City. Brees hit 17 of 19 passes against the first-team defense for 182 yards and a TD. ... The Lions released former Pro Bowl return specialist Eddie Drummond. ... Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman isn't expected to play the rest of the preseason because of a heel injury. ... One of Eagles coach Andy Reid's sons, Britt Reid, was detained on suspicion of driving while impaired in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.
