[Photo] With the resumption of Getaways' popular Hike of the Week, the P-I introduces avid hiker Karen Sykes.

A Washington native and longtime member of The Mountaineers, Sykes is a trip leader for the club's alpine scrambling and snowshoe courses. She has hiked extensively throughout the state and is famed among local hikers for her long, daunting day treks in the backcountry.

Sykes will introduce readers to many special explorations, great experiences and beautiful sights.
