Can't afford a prom dress? New non-profit can help
Junior and senior high school students in need of a free prom dress have help this spring from a brand-new non-profit called The Ruby Room.
It's modeled after a similar organization in Chicago that provides new and "gently used" prom dresses. They'll be staging three Seattle shopping "boutiques" -- April 5, 12 and 19, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., for shoppers.
A valid school ID card and referral from a school counselor or youth-program leader get you through the door.
Want to make a contribution? Organizers need gowns in very small and very large sizes to add to their 500-gown collection.
For information, an appointment and directions, call 206-439-7575 or check out www.rubyroomseattle.org
