Driver charged in bicyclist's death
EVERETT -- Prosecutors charged Arlington resident Wayne Edward Moran, 60, in a hit-and-run accident that killed a bicyclist last weekend.
Both Moran and the victim, James Zentz, had been at the Hitching Post Tavern near Lake Stevens before the accident. Witnesses estimated Moran was driving 55 mph when his van hit Zentz from behind, according to charging papers.
After inquiring whether the Everett bicyclist was all right, and being told that he wasn't, Moran drove off without giving any identification or offering help, the court papers say.
His common-law wife told police that when Moran came home the night of the accident, he staggered, knocked pictures off the wall and smelled of alcohol, charging papers say.
