Nominations are sought for environmental award
ISSAQUAH -- Know someone who is passionate about protecting the Issaquah Basin, an advocate for clean water and better government policies? Want to honor that person?
The city of Issaquah is accepting nominations for the Ruth Kees Environmental Award for a Sustainable Community. Nominations are due by Feb. 24.
Nominees don't have to be Issaquah residents, but their work must be in the Issaquah Basin area.
In April 2003, friends from throughout Washington honored Kees, a local environmental activist for more than 40 years, at a dinner. She has studied hydrology, protected wetlands and informed government officials of environmental problems.
Nomination applications can be found at www.ci.issaquah.wa.us, or contact Chrys Bertolotto of the city's Resource Conservation Office at 425-837-3442 or chrysb@ci.issaquah.wa.us
