Land purchase approved for heritage park in Kitsap County
KINGSTON -- Kitsap County commissioners have completed a deal to buy 426 acres near here for a heritage park in the north part of the county.
County commissioners approved the $1.87 million purchase Monday. The land is owned by Pope Resources and OPG Properties.
Plans call for the park to include sports fields, walking trails and natural areas. Twenty percent of the land will be devoted to active recreation. The county also has a five-year option to buy more adjoining acreage.
