Night-vision goggles still missing at Fort Lewis

SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER STAFF AND NEWS SERVICES

FORT LEWIS -- About 400 members of a Fort Lewis unit remained confined to the base yesterday as the search for a missing pair of night-vision goggles continued, base officials said.

The soldiers were confined after a $5,000 pair of goggles used by combat soldiers to see at night were determined to be missing during an inventory Jan. 27.

Army officials said the search for what is considered a "sensitive item" will continue until the missing goggles are found or officials can determine what happened to them.
