SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER STAFF AND NEWS SERVICES

FORT LEWIS -- A Fort Lewis-based Stryker brigade soldier from Oregon has been killed in Iraq.

Sgt. Adam Plumondore, 22, of Gresham died Wednesday in Mosul when a bomb blew up near his vehicle.

Plumondore ran track and played football and baseball at Gresham High School.

Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski has ordered that all flags at public institutions be flown at half-staff today in Plumondore's honor.

KATU-TV, the ABC affiliate in Portland, reported that Plumondore had been interested in getting his pilot's license and becoming a police officer, and that he had been hoping to get permission to come home on a two-week leave in June.
