Henny the arson dog finds nothing at fire
One day after being introduced, Henny the arson dog was on the job.
The black Labrador, specially trained to detect evidence of fuel or accelerants, was used Thursday at the scene of a suspected arson in Lake City.
Seattle firefighters were called to the women's restroom at the ball field on 30th Avenue Northeast, next to Nathan Hale High, about 4 a.m., spokeswoman Helen Fitzpatrick said.
"She didn't detect any accelerants, but it was a set fire," Fitzpatrick said.
There were no injuries. Damage was estimated at $12,000.
The fire is being investigated by the Seattle police arson bomb squad.
It is the second outing for Henny.
Henny's handler, Lt. Stephen Baer, also took the dog to the scene of a house fire Tuesday in West Seattle. That fire proved to be accidental.
