Human remain found in Tillicum
Police are looking into the possibility that human bones discovered in Lakewood Tuesday may be connected to the disappearance of a 10-year-old girl late last year.
But they are cautioning that it's too early to tell whether the remains belong to Adre'Anna Jackson, who was last seen in the Tillicum neighborhood of Lakewood Dec. 2.
According to Lakewood Police spokesman Bret Farrar, the bones were found at about 11:30 a.m. by children playing in a three-acre vacant field in the Woodbrook area of Lakewood.
Police have been unable to determine the gender or age of the person, Farrar said. Parts of the body -- which include skeletal remains with teeth intact -- have been transported to the Pierce County Medical Examiner's office. The earliest that office will be able to make an identification will be Wednesday, Farrar said.
The disappearance of Jackson threw the area into a panic, but no solid leads have developed about the girl's whereabouts.
"Everybody wants to jump to the conclusion that it's her," said Farrar, "but at this point we just don't know."
