Former coach, a convicted molester, exposes himself
RENTON -- A former Renton basketball coach, convicted in 2003 of molesting a girl on his team, has been sentenced to another six months in jail for exposing himself to three women while he was on probation.
Tony Giles, 49, pleaded guilty last month to three counts of indecent exposure, one felony and two misdemeanors, and was sentenced Friday. His jail time will be on work release.
Giles was released in December 2004 after two years in state prison for having a sexual relationship with one of his 17-year-old basketball players. He took nude photographs of the girl and threatened to kick her off the team if she didn't have sex with him, court documents said.
He was still on community supervision when he exposed himself on three different occasions in October and January to three women, two of whom were with young children.
A month after his arrest in February, Giles was arrested again after he was spotted in a Renton park in violation of his parole, which includes conditions that he stay away from parks and schools and have no involvement in coaching.
Before his 2003 arrest, Giles had been praised for coaching more than two dozen high school girls to college scholarships through his elite Players Only program.
