McGavick lends additional $500K to own campaign

P-I STAFF

Trailing in fundraising and public opinion polls, Republican Mike McGavick has lent an additional $500,000 to his campaign to unseat Democratic U.S., Sen. Maria Cantwell, bringing his total personal stake in the race to $2.5 million. Even with the new cash infusion, however, campaign finance reports released by the candidates Friday show Cantwell with a hefty cash advantage going into the final stretch before the Nov. 7 election. As of Oct. 18, the reports show, Cantwell had $2.4 million in cash on hand compared with McGavick's $958,000 before his loan Friday.
