Man shot in the U District

By BRAD WONG
P-I REPORTER

A man was shot in the leg in the University District early Monday and Seattle police were still looking for the gunman hours later.

Officers received a call at 1:45 a.m. of the shooting around Northeast 47th Street and Brooklyn Avenue Northeast, said police spokesman Sean Whitcomb.

After the shooting, the victim and suspected gunman left the intersection. But around 2:20 a.m., the victim arrived at Harborview Medical Center to receive emergency treatment, Whitcomb said.

The man had received a ride from a friend, Whitcomb said, and the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

Whitcomb said Monday morning that he was waiting for additional information from investigators.

No one else was injured in the shooting. Police believe multiple shots were fired at the intersection.
