WHITE CENTER -- A White Center teen was hospitalized Friday afternoon after suffering severe burns at a backyard fire.
Deputy Bob Conner of the King County Sheriff's Office said gas in a container near the teen ignited just after 4 p.m.
The boy, thought to be 14 years old, was rushed to Harborview Medical Center burn center with third-degree burns covering most of his body, Conner said.
"What he was doing with the fire and the gas can, I don't know," he said.
Conner said deputies continue to investigate the blaze, which occurred in the White Center area in unincorporated King County. Another teen in the area was not injured in the fire.
