It promises to be a great weekend for football fans, not so great for motorists.
There will be two college games in town Saturday, with the University of Washington football team kicking off their game at 12:30 p.m. at Husky Stadium, and the Washington State Cougars taking on San Diego State University at Qwest Field at 4 p.m.
Then, on Sunday, the Seahawks will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Qwest Field for their season opener.
For drivers hoping to avoid the traffic congestion, Metro Transit will provide free transportation to and from Husky Stadium on game day to anyone with a game ticket or ticket stub.
No such deal for Cougs, though.
But during all Seahawks games this season, Metro will provide special shuttles from five local park-and-ride lots. Visit transit.metrokc.gov/ for fares and other information on these services.
To help move both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, Seattle police traffic officers will be out in force. But police spokeswoman Renee Witt said no problems are expected.
"They've got this down to a science," she said.
