Sound Transit will hold a public open house Wednesday, showing the design for the University Link light rail station planned for the Montlake and University of Washington areas.
The open house will be from 5 to 8 p.m. in Room 108 of the university's Husky Union Building. Sound Transit officials, saying the design is about 30 percent along, will give a presentation at 6:30 p.m.
A large-scale model of the station, a planned pedestrian bridge, landscaping and other features will be on display.
The Seattle light rail review panel last week unanimously approved the pedestrian bridge, one of the biggest changes to the current lower-campus "triangle" site near Montlake.
The 16-foot-wide, arc-shaped bridge will cross over Northeast Pacific Place and Montlake Boulevard, connecting the lower Rainier Vista area and the Burke-Gilman Trail to the new light rail station outside Husky Stadium.
The station itself will be mostly underground, with disabled-access elevators and one floor of the station visible above street level. Escalators and elevators will deliver travelers to the light rail platform below-grade.
University station is the north end of a $1.7 billion light rail line being built from downtown Seattle.
Sound Transit expects $750 million in federal funding for the University Link.
