Steinbrueck to work on plan for Children's Hospital

P-I STAFF

Former City Councilman Peter Steinbrueck will work as a consultant with Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center and community members on the hospital's 20-year growth plan, Steinbrueck and Children's said Wednesday.

"Children's has a critical mission," Steinbrueck, an architect, said in a news release. "My goal is to help the hospital achieve a workable plan for its future needs that is highly responsive to community values and respects the integrity of surrounding neighborhoods."

Some area residents oppose the hospital's growth plan, which would more than double the number of beds and building sizes on its 21.7-acre campus and the 1.8 acres facing it across Sand Point Way Northeast over the next two decades.
