Tukwila police are looking for a 25-year-old convicted felon whom authorities consider a suspect in the Saturday morning slaying of another man.
Investigators believe Carlos Wayne Ellison III, a Tukwila resident, shot 27-year-old Rogers Jovan Ward during an argument at an apartment in the 5700 block of South 152nd Street.
"They got into an argument that escalated to the point where (Ellison) pulled out a gun and shot him," said Officer Mike Murphy, spokesman for the Tukwila Police Department. "There was no other crime involved."
Murphy declined to say what investigators believe prompted Ellison to shoot Ward. The two men were acquaintances.
Ward was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the 3:30 a.m. shooting.
Ward, recently of Kent, was kept on life support for several hours as doctors tried to revive him, Murphy said. He died later Saturday of a gunshot wound to the head, a spokesman for the King County Medical Examiner's Office said Tuesday.
Ellison left the residence before police arrived. Murphy said the man could be hiding anywhere in the Seattle area.
According to court records, Ellison has several felony convictions for theft and other crimes. At 17, Ellison was sentenced to 30 days detention for third-degree assault, his only felony conviction for a violent crime.
Based on evidence from the scene, investigators believe they have probable cause for Ellison's arrest, Murphy said.
They also think he may still be armed.
Murphy asked that anyone with information about Ellison's location to call 911.
Investigations into two other recent shootings in Tukwila continue, Murphy said.
A 21-year-old man was shot in the leg outside Westfield Southcenter mall last Wednesday. Early Monday morning, a man was wounded at a gas station on Interurban Avenue South.
Murphy said no suspects are in custody in either case. Two men had been arrested in the mall shooting, but were released while detectives finish the investigation into the incident.
