A 78-year-old man was shot in the Top Hat area Sunday about 2 a.m., the King County Sheriff's Office reported. The shooting occurred in the 200 block of Southwest 116th Street and deputies arrested a suspect at the scene, an office spokesman said.
The wounded man is a former Boeing employee and Navy veteran, KOMO/4 reported. He reportedly suffered injuries to his shoulder.
The news station said the suspect showed up at the man's door and demanded to use the phone. But the man did not open it because the stranger appeared to be drunk.
Top Hat is near White Center. Both are unincorporated parts of King County.
