After a 15-year absence, pink flamingos will be flocking back to Woodland Park Zoo on later this month as part of a permanent exhibit presented by The Boeing Co.
More than two dozen of the slender-necked birds with a penchant for perching on one leg will brighten the area near the Temperate Forest. The social birds of South America grow up to 40 inches tall.
The flock of flamingos was donated to the Zoo by Seattle bird lovers Nick and DeEtte Johnson.
The opening celebration is set for Saturday, May 24, 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Summer Zoo hours are 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. For admission fees and other information, visit www.zoo.org
