Inmate found dead in Renton

By HECTOR CASTRO
P-I REPORTER

Renton police are investigating the death of an inmate in the Renton City Jail who was found dead Tuesday in an apparent suicide.

Authorities identified the inmate only as a 53-year-old man who had been arrested on Friday for outstanding traffic warrants. He was seen by a judge both on Monday and Tuesday.

In a press release, Renton police reported that the staff at the jail had no indications the man was suicidal or depressed. He was found dead at 4:40 p.m.

Police did not release any details about how the man died.

The Renton City Jail opened in 1999 and has a capacity for 50 beds.
