Man shot in Columbia City

Seattle police are looking for two men who ran from the scene of a shooting that left one man badly hurt early Wednesday.

Police spokeswoman Renee Witt said witnesses began calling 911 just past 12:30 a.m. to report hearing two to four shots fired in the 4900 block of Rainier Avenue South in Columbia City.

According to witnesses, the victim, a 24-year-old man, had just left a tavern when he was confronted by two men.

One of the men immediately pulled a gun and pointed it at the victim's stomach, Witt said. The two men began to struggle and the victim was shot twice in the torso.

A friend of the victim's came out during the struggle and fought with one of the attackers, but he was not hurt. The two assailants broke off and ran through an alley.

The victim staggered inside nearby Angie's Tavern, where Seattle firefighters arrived to treat him.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center and he was last listed in stable condition.

The police Gang and Homicide units were investigating. A K9 team tried to track the suspects but were unable to locate them and the two men remain at large.
