A 14-month old girl died Tuesday afternoon after a family member drove over the child while leaving her Kingston-area home.
The child, identified as Hannah Bryant, was rushed from the home on the 33700 block of Northeast Eglon Road to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators believe the child had wandered behind the family car and was out of view of the driver when the incident occurred. The driver then backed over the child.
Family members and neighbors were providing first aid to Hannah when deputies arrived. An airlift to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center was requested, but canceled due to a lengthy delay before a helicopter could arrive.
Sheriff's deputies are investigating, but, according to a spokesman, they believe the death to be accidental.
