PUYALLUP, Wash. -- The wife of a cab driver wounded during a robbery in Puyallup says he's undergone surgery at a Seattle hospital.
She says the 36-year-old man, Frazdag Eltahir, has bullet wounds in his right arm, right leg and abdomen and that doctors told her it would take him a year to recover.
The woman, Natalie Davis-Eltahir, told KIRO-TV her husband is an immigrant from Sudan who works seven days a week, 10 to 12 hours a day to provide for his family. They have a 2-year-old son and her daughter from a previous relationship.
Puyallup police spokesman Bryan Jeter says the driver was shot about 1:30 a.m. after taken the man from a Tacoma casino.
The driver was able to call for help and provide a description. Responding police arrested a suspect who had a gun.
