Architect and wife burned in College Place fire

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. -- A husband and wife are in stable condition at St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla with minor burns from a fire at their home in College Place.

Witnesses say Edward and Vernita Kontz (kahnts) were burned Sunday evening attempting to save two cars and a computer.

One firefighters received minor burns and was treated and released.

College Place Fire Marshal John Boose says there is significant fire, heat and smoke damage to the home.

Kontz is an architect with offices College Place and Lincoln City, Ore.
