Board to meet tonight on new sports complex

Thursday, February 8, 2001

The Seattle Parks and Recreation board will meet tonight to hammer out a plan for its massive new sports complex at Sand Point Magnuson Park.

The plan calls for 15 athletic fields and 14 tennis courts, and includes a rugby field, an outdoor in-line-skating hockey rink, a cross-country course and parking.

The sports facilities are part of a major restoration that integrates Magnuson Park's 225 acres with 125 acres of barracks and fields abandoned by the Navy.

The park board meets at 7 p.m. at Seattle Parks and Recreation, 100 Dexter Ave. N.
