This Week's Hot Video: 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'
Disney's adaptation of the first volume of C.S. Lewis' seven-novel fantasy cycle -- the adventures of four siblings who stumble upon a world in another dimension -- makes a screen-filling, effects-heavy, perfectly respectable kids movie.
And it was one of last year's biggest hits, despite lacking the inspiration and originality of an instant classic, equally attractive to all age groups.
It comes to DVD in a single disc, with bloopers and commentary by director Andrew Adamson and kid stars Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, William Moseley and Anne Popplewell, and a two-disc edition with those extras plus a featurette on Lewis and a variety of making-of featurettes. 140 minutes. Rated PG for battle sequences and frightening moments. (William Arnold)
