This Week's Hot Video: 'She's the Man'
Inspired by "Twelfth Night," this teen comedy brings Shakespeare's time-tried tale of gender-bending and unrequited love to a modern-day high school.
Amanda Bynes plays a talented soccer player who decides to pass herself off as her twin brother so she can prove that girls can play as good as guys.
Though viewers will have to endure some rough patches, as teen comedies go, this one hits most of the right marks. The cast is solid. The story is fast-paced and funny, although whether or not you know Shakespeare, you know exactly how it's going to end almost as soon as it begins.
Most of the laughs are due to Bynes, a vibrant young actor with excellent comedic chops.
DVD extras include nine deleted scenes, three making-of featurettes, a music video and a pair of commentary tracks, one with Bynes, other cast members and director Andy Fickman. 105 minutes. Rated PG-13 for some sexual material. (Winda Benedetti)
