This Week's Hot Video: 'RV'

This road trip comedy is only as good as its star, which, surprisingly, is not Robin Williams but, rather, the title character: a bulking, charmless RV charged with transporting the bickering Munro family to their Colorado vacation spot.

The RV's repertoire is limited mostly to predictable and repetitive physical comedy, namely crashing clumsily into surrounding objects and coyly rolling away when supposedly parked. Still, the vehicle attempts to show some range with an inclination toward scatological humor in the form of an uncooperative sewage tank.

Overall, it is an immensely unfunny performance by the RV. Add to this a supporting cast of griping vacationers and what you have is a film that feels both unpleasant and unnecessary.

DVD features include five featurettes, a director's commentary, a gag reel and storyboard-to-film comparisons. 99 minutes. Rated PG for crude humor, innuendo and language. (Manny Lewis)
