A 1936 photo shows a Mariner's Pageant parade traveling north along Commercial Avenue near 17th Street. The pageant was a community celebration of Anacortes' maritime heritage. It was held annually from 1936 to 1940, then suspended during World War II. It was last held in the late '40s. Photo courtesy of Anacortes Museum
