Ballard
From the archives

Originally published Saturday, November 16, 1996

We dug into the Post-Intelligencer's archives to retrieve a couple of interesting articles on Ballard from the early part of this century.

  • Brings Ballard into the City
(May 29, 1907) This story appeared in the P-I the day Ballard ceased to exist as an independent city and became part of Seattle. It includes a peek at Ballard's municipal finances at the time, and an account of the political maneuverings that led up to the annexation.

  • Ballard area experiencing rapid growth
(Jan. 9, 1927) Twenty years later, commercial and residential development were thriving in the neighborhood.
