  • Cleveland Community Arts Foundry is available as a fabrication space for professional artists and for commissioned private and public projects. Run by Cleveland High School arts instructor Marta Olson, it is used as a studio by her students. Since inception, more than 750 kids and adults have participated in 24 public art projects. 206-764-1827.

  • Java Love is no Starbucks, and its customers couldn't be happier. "It's an all-culture, gay/lesbian coffee hangout," says one regular. Winter weekday hours: Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Open Saturdays and Sundays. 2414 Beacon Ave. S.

  • Jefferson Park Golf Club is one of Seattle's oldest public courses. Along with a separate lawn bowling club, it offers 18-hole and nine-hole courses, a driving range, restaurant and club house. Info: 206-762-4513. Tee-times: 206-301-0472.

  • Dr. Jose Rizal Park is one of those great Seattle lookouts, with sweeping views of downtown and Elliott Bay. The park, at the corner of South Judkins and 12th Avenue South, is named for a Filipino patriot who was executed in 1896 for his political beliefs and writings.
